Job Summary

The ideal candidate shall have a well-rounded background, one that has demonstrated experience or training in multiple aspects of electrical engineering such as RF, digital, and analog design. This is an indivudal contributor role in which the engineer is part of a cohesive team of engineers responsible for HF communications radio product lines.

Job Responsibilities

The successful candidate will provide hardware design engineering support for commercial HF Communications radios currently in production and fielded all over the world. Typical responsibilities include utilizing problem solving and design skills along with root cause corrective action process to implement changes, to document electrical designs, coordinate the generation, release, and maintenance of technical documentation; supporting integration and environmental qualification testing and technical support of legacy products during the production phase.

  • Analyze and troubleshoot avionics electronic systems and printed circuit assemblies

  • Analyze and redesign printed circuit assemblies for obsolescence and product improvement

  • Lead and provide oversight of design verification and environmental qualification testing

  • Generate design change ducumentation and notification of change reports to customers

  • Collaborate with manufacturing and service center to investigate and troubleshoot real time electronic assembly failures

  • Evaluate current production and customer returned circuit assemblies to identify failure trends, implement methods of preventing future failures, and communicate findings to improve next-generation designs

  • Mentor with more senior engineers to expand their understanding of HF communications radio systems and facilitate the transfer of knowledge of technical skills and product domain knowledge

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline, specifically Electrical Engineering

  • Experience with hands-on troubleshooting using engineering lab equipment

  • Mininum of 2 years of hardware design experience in RF, analog and/or digital design

  • Highly motivated, self starter with effective oral/written communication and interpersonal skills

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Prior experience with commercial or military radio communication avionics equipment

  • Prior experience or training in all aspects of the hardware life cycle, including requirements capture, design and development, requirements verification, qualification and certification
